ROCCA DI FRASSINELLO’S VERMENTINO 2019 AMONG THE BEST 10 WINES OF THE VERMENTINO GRAND PRIX 2020

A blind tasting of 64 vermentini from the Tuscan Maremma. An exceptional jury made up of top food and wine journalists like Andrea Cuomo, Aldo Fiordelli and Valentina Vercelli, and professionals working in the five Michelin starred restaurants of the Maremma and in the historic Enoteca Castiglionese. The verdict: the Vermentino 2019 by Rocca di Frassinello is one of the 10 best Vermentini tasted.

The judgment, that rewards the only white wine of Rocca di Frassinello, was expressed during the Vermentino Grand Prix 2020, the first edition of the competition dedicated to the white grape variety, organized by the Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana on the 4th of July at L ‘Andana Resort in Castiglione della Pescaia.

Freshness, drinkability, balance. These are the qualities recognized in the Vermentino 2019 by Rocca di Frassinello which seduced everyone with its citrus notes and its balanced taste, well supported by the acidity and the mineral component that make it sapid and persistent. All agree in attributing to Rocca di Frassinello’s Vermentino the quality of being able to enhance the classic notes of a grape variety that has found in the Tuscan Maremma the perfect habitat.

With 809 hectares, Vermentino is the first white grape variety cultivated in the province of Grosseto and represents over 50% of the Vermentino produced in the whole of Tuscany. The will of the Consorzio Tutela Vini della Maremma Toscana is to promote what is becoming one of the driving forces behind the DOC, thanks also to an ever-growing interest shown by national and international markets. The Vermentino Grand Prix 2020 was, in fact, the first edition of an event that will become a fixed appointment dedicated to an extraordinary vine grape that gives birth to fresh and drinkable wines also suitable for long aging.
