Great participation to the third edition of the DCC Global Tasting organized by Domini Castellare di Castellina to celebrate the 40 harvests of I Sodi di S. Niccolò, the Super Tuscan by Castellare di Castellina.
40 harvests, 40 years of history. It was 1977 when I Sodi di S. Niccolò, the Supertuscan from Castellare di Castellina made from Sangioveto and Black Malvasia grapes, two indigenous varieties of Chianti Classico, was bottled for the first time.
“They produce world-class wines; they are leaders in their regions; and witness the diversity, heritage and authenticity that are the hallmarks of Italian wine”. With these words, Wine Spectator executive editor, Tom Matthews, describes the 34 Italian best wineries that have been always awarded by OperaWine during the 10 editions of the event.
A blind tasting of 64 vermentini from the Tuscan Maremma. An exceptional jury made up of top food and wine journalists like Andrea Cuomo, Aldo Fiordelli and Valentina Vercelli, and professionals working in the five Michelin starred restaurants of the Maremma and in the historic Enoteca Castiglionese. The verdict: the Vermentino 2019 by Rocca di Frassinello is one of the 10 best Vermentini tasted.
With great enthusiasm, we are delighted to let you know that, from today, you can again enjoy our Tuscan estates: Rocca di Frassinello , in Maremma , and Castellare di Castellina , in the Chianti Classico.
