40 harvests, 40 years of history. It was 1977 when I Sodi di S. Niccolò, the Supertuscan from Castellare di Castellina made from Sangioveto and Black Malvasia grapes, two indigenous varieties of Chianti Classico, was bottled for the first time.
We are happy to announce that, starting from April 26th, the gates of our Tuscan estates Rocca di Frassinello, in Maremma, and Castellare di Castellina, in Chianti Classico, will open again.
The top score changes Gentleman magazine’s ranking obtained by adding the scores awarded by the Italian and international guides. The Super Tuscan by Castellare di Castellina now ranks first, followed by Solaia and Sassicaia.
From 96/100 pts to Baffonero 2017 described as “faboluos” to 94/100 pts to Rocca di Frassinello 2018, the wine critic Antonio Galloni awards Rocca di Frassinello new vintages.
“They produce world-class wines; they are leaders in their regions; and witness the diversity, heritage and authenticity that are the hallmarks of Italian wine”. With these words, Wine Spectator executive editor, Tom Matthews, describes the 34 Italian best wineries that have been always awarded by OperaWine during the 10 editions of the event.
