I SODI DI SAN NICCOLÒ 2012 ONE OF THE FIVE BEST WINES IN ITALY

Every year, Gentleman magazine collates the ratings of the most authoritative Italian wine guides to draw up what is now known as La Guida delle Guide (“guide of guides”). This ranking identifies as exhaustively as possible the Italian wines that the critics have praised the most*.

In a further enrichment of this already far-reaching selection, a special additional ranking was introduced some time ago which also incorporates the feedback of the three most influential critical voices on the international wine-making scene – Robert Parker, Wine Spectator and James Suckling – collating their ratings with those of the Italian critics.

In both of these rankings, I SODI DI SAN NICCOLÒ 2012 – the emblematic wine of Castellare di Castellina obtained from Sangioveto (85%) and Malvasia Nera (15%) – came fifth overall, thanks to a series of high ratings from both the Italian and international critics (exemplified by 96 points given by Daniele Cernilli and 95 by Robert Parker).

* The guides taken into account by Gentleman are: Gambero Rosso, Cernilli, Veronelli, Maroni, Bibenda e Vitae.
