FEUDI DEL PISCIOTTO WINE RELAIS INAUGURATES THE 2018 SEASON WITH SOME EXCITING ADDITIONS
Feudi del Pisciotto Wine Relais becomes an even more exclusive, international and experiential wine destination. To enrich the offer, a couple of important innovations, presented during the official opening celebrated Saturday, April 21, with a gala dinner at the Wine Relais restaurant Il Palmento di Feudi.
To welcome guests, in the evocative setting of the ancient Palmento, Mr Paolo Panerai, vice president of CIA, the company that has invested in the acquisition of one of the most spectacular properties in Sicily. A qualified parterre, composed of national and international journalists, tour operators and representatives of the institutions, has joined the event focused on haute cuisine accompanied by Feudi del Pisciotto’s wines and aperitifs based on DAVOLAMARA, a cocktail composed of DAVOLAROSA, Feudi del Pisciotto sparkling rosè, and AMARA, a Sicilian bitter made with oranges.
The dinner was the perfect occasion to discover the first new-entry of this season: the talented Chef at the helm
of Il Palmento di Feudi Restaurant, the 35 years old Christian De Simone of nearby Ragusa whose former experiences have led him from Trentino, to Tuscany, to Puglia (where he cooked under the legendary chef Gianfranco Vissani), until returning to his origins and touching home turf in Sicily at the Grand Hotel Ortigia in 2014. A strong regional appreciation met with contemporary technique and refinement defines Christian’s cooking style which is enforced by a strong, articulated understanding of the island.
Typical regional recipes, with a predisposition for fish, both noble and underprivileged, and a profound reliance on vegetables and dairy products that are abundant in Sicily, interpreted with health-minded contemporary techniques comprise the vocabulary of Il Palmento dei Feudi, which aims to become a gourmet destination of the area, both for the local public as well as a national and international audience.
The other new- entry of the season 2018 is the panoramic swimming pool overlooking the Niscemi valley, offering breathtaking 360 ° views of the vineyards. A timeless place where guests can relax and enjoy the Sicilian sun surrounded by the unspoiled nature that surrounds the estate, perhaps sipping a glass of Nero d’Avola 2015 Feudi del Pisciotto – Versace label, the only Sicilian wine included in the 2017 Wine Spectator Top 100. Feudi del Pisciotto Wine Relais boasts 10 splendid rooms for hospitality, all of which were restored in the oldest wing of the property’s antique Palmento. A reserved, exclusive atmosphere where a modern touch of design fits in perfect harmony with the style of the 18th century baglio and large outdoor common areas ideal to share the most pleasant moments of the day while immersed in nature. From triumphant breakfast spreads made with local breads of ancient Sicilian grains, baked goods, jams and preserves, freshly-pressed fruit and vegetable juices, cheeses and dairy products from Ragusa, to moments of relaxation either reading in the shade or walking in the nearby vineyards. In the rooms and common areas, handcrafted artifacts commissioned by local artists, well-evidenced Caltagirone

Feudi del Pisciotto estate and its Wine Relais rise in the rural, authentically preserved corner of Southeast Sicily, between Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina, just steps from both the sea and the confines of the Sughereta di Niscemi Nature Reserve within the Cerasuolo di Vittoria DOCG. Feudi del Pisciotto is formed by an evocative and important nucleus, an original agricultural structure from the 1700s, perched on top of tuffaceous slopes descending towards the Mediterranean Sea. The structure’s impressive original architecture has remained untouched. Adding to this piece of living history, a seamless integration of the modern cellar and barrel-room buildings have made it one of the most advanced winemaking and hospitality facilities in Sicily.
