I SODI DI S. NICCOLÒ, AN ICON OF STYLE SINCE 1977

Castellare di Castellina’s standard bearer. A wine that has demonstrated the greatness of Sangioveto blended with Black Malvasia. Bottled for the first time in 1977, I Sodi di S. Niccolò has collected many important awards: it was the first Italian wine to be included in Wine Spectator’s inaugural Top 100 list (1988) with the 1985 vintage, and again in 1989 with the 1986 vintage.

The name comes from the Italian word Sodi used by the Tuscan peasants to describe the terrains that had to be hand-worked, being too hard (sodi means “hard” in Italian). San Niccolò derives from the Church dating to the 1300s that stands in the property of Castellare around which the vineyards are located.
