Guided tours and wine tastings

At Rocca di Frassinello guests can take part in a sensory journey in one of the most beautiful wineries in the world, according to Architectural Digest, which includes tastings of excellent wines, the tour of Renzo Piano‘s beautiful architecture and insights into Etruscan wine culture. All this immersed in the uncontaminated nature of the Tuscan Maremma. The experience allows a deeper understanding of the art of wine making and its ancient roots that, in this area, date back to almost three millennia ago.

Guests can choose among the following experiences:

The Classic Tour (group visit of approx. 75 minutes). The experience includes a guided tour of the cellar, designed by Renzo Piano, starting from the huge terrace in terracotta with breathtaking view of the Maremma’s rolling hills, to the impressive Barrel Room excavated into the rocky terrain where about 2,000 barrels rest in gentle darkness. The visit continues inside the Etruscan exhibition, curated by the renewed architect Italo Rota, where the ancient finds coming from the Necropolis of San Germano, discovered within the estate, are displayed. The tour ends with the tasting of 4 wines (Maremma Toscana DOC), namely Vermentino, Ornello, Le Sughere di Frassinello, Rocca di Frassinello, combined with typical Tuscan schiaccia (crunchy bread) in the modern Pavilion which hosts the art work Rapture of the Grape by David LaChapelle. The Superior Tour (private visit of approx. 90 minutes). The experience includes an exclusive private visit of the cellar, starting from the huge terrace in terracotta with breathtaking view of the Tuscan rolling hills, to the impressive Barrel Room excavated into the rocky terrain where about 2,000 barrels rest in gentle darkness. The visit continues inside the Etruscan exhibition, curated by the renewed architect Italo Rota, where the ancient finds coming from the Necropolis of San Germano, discovered within the estate, are displayed. The tour ends inside the tasting room designed by Renzo Piano, with the guided tasting of 5 wines (Maremma Toscana DOC), namely Vermentino, Ornello, Le Sughere di Frassinello, Rocca di Frassinello and also Baffonero, the top wine of the cellar challenger of Masseto, paired with typical tuscan cold cuts and cheese. Vertical tastings of Rocca di Frassinello and Baffonero. In the cellar it is possible to organize vertical tastings of the best vintages of Rocca di Frassinello or Baffonero wines guided by our oenologist. The Rocca di Frassinello is the first label, the grand vin according to the Bordeaux classification, the best expression of the Italian-French project that gave birth to the winery. Baffonero is the top 100% Merlot wine of Rocca di Frassinello, which takes its name from the first vines planted within the estate, and is considered by national and international critics to be one of the best Merlot in the world. Duration of vertical tastings: approx. 90 minutes. Cost of the experience: upon request.

Made to Measure Wine Experience. A one-of-a-kind experience: the possibility to create your own wine, starting from the blend of the vine varieties (Merlot, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon e Syrah) to the aging in French oak barriques, until the printing of the custom designed label, assisted step by step by our oenologist and by our Marketing team. Once ready, the bottles of wine, in elegant customized wooden cases, will be delivered to your home. Cost: upon request.
